Meet Jewel Avila 51, her sister Wanda Maxedon wanted her sister to have a wish. Jewel had a heart attack in 2024, is diabetic and diagnosed with stage 3/4 kidney failure. Her wish was to see Las Vegas with all the lights in person. An Elderly Wish Foundation was honored to grant her that wish last month. We love to bring joy and help make memories when our seniors could use it the most during a critical time in their lives. If you know of a relative, friend, neighbor or co-worker who is over 50 and has a chronic or serious illness, please contact us to nominate them for a wish at elderlywish.org or call us at (925) 978-1883.
Here is a letter from Jewel after her wish...
July, 2026
Dear Elderly Wish Foundation,
My name is Jewel Avila, and I am 51 years old.
I was truly blessed by the Elderly Wish Foundation with the opportunity to take the trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was my very first trip there, and it was absolutely amazing! I had so much fun and made memories that I will cherish forever. I never imagined Las Vegas would be such an incredible place to visit. There were so many exciting things to see and do, and every moment was special. This experience brought me so much joy, and I am forever grateful.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this dream come true. Your kindness and generosity gave me an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
July 2026 is a month I will never forget!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jewel Avila
